Intro to Part Two and Chapter 3

Intro to Part Two, Second wave of civilizations from 500 B.C.E. - 500 C.E. The empires covered in this second part will be the Persian, Greek, Roman, Chinese, it will also touch on the Mediterranean civilizations.  These civilizations began "distinctive "wisdom Traditions" and spread more philosophy and religion.
Chapter 3, The Persian empire was huge and is looked at in perspective to the other empires in this chapter, like the roman, greek and the Chinese empire.  The kings of kings were emphasized in the Persian empire and they liked a monarchy. The Greeks expanded more by migration and this would spread their religion and their art. The Greeks and Persian empires would often fight in Ionia. In this war, the Greeks won and they flourished. Alexander the greats empire did not last very long but the empire spread very quickly and very largely. Roman and Chinese empires are compared, much of Roman society could progress from a lower class to a higher class. Shang Zhou established a state system and took the empire and state by force. Both of these empires spread major ideas of religion and absorbed other empires ideals as well. The language was also spread and if you could write you could communicate with anyone in the Chinese empire. Both empires got too big and fell quickly.
