Prologue and Chapter 1: Out of Africa & The Ways We Were

Prologue
The History of The Universe
Big History, History started very long ago, to make this vast expansion of time even remotely comprehensible some Scholars have depicted the history of the cosmos as if it were a single calendar year with our current century being in less then the last second. There are many stars each following a common pattern of flourishing and then collapsing and dying they sometimes generate supernovas black holes and pulsars. many of these Stars create wonderful galaxies. Our own Galaxy again in early April according to the cosmic calendar. Even though we do know a lot about our universe we may not ever find everything out and we will always have questions about our earth.

The History of a Planet
From our own suns, birth is how our planet came to be, along with all of the other things in our solar system.  The entire solar system began in September on the cosmic calendar.  The emergence of life began rather quickly it only took 600 million years after the Earth took shape. The Permian mass extinction occurred 250 million years ago and eliminated 96 percent of all living species on the planet. Strayer doesn't focus his book on just the homo sapiens. Since they are such a small species in the aspect of how long they have been around. Human impact has been unprecedented and they have had a large impact on the earth. Change, comparison, and connections all of these operate on a global scale. The book of the is called “The Ways of The World” because during the reading you may think to yourself the ways of the world.

Out Of Africa
Africa is where the “Human Revolution” began in Africa along with the start of “culture”. In Africa, they inhabited the forests and deserts. This was the begging of culture, including the use of beads, ornaments, and pigments. They also started planned burials. Leaving Africa they first place the population went was Eurasia, leading first into the middle east then to central Europe about 45,000 years ago. They migrated to Australia, this happen 60,000 years ago they moved from Indonesia and they used boats. In the Americas the first society was bands of Clovis people, they camped along rivers, springs and watering holes. The last phase of the great human migration took place in the Pacific ocean. The voyages on the Pacific were by agricultural people and they brought domesticated plants.

The Ways We Were
Paleolithic people were gather hunters. They were called gather hunters because they would collect and gather more often then hunt. Society made relationships between men and women a lot more equal then current day society. Women provided the majority of the food to provide for the family. Paleolithic people had art in their culture, it could be used for trade or just as art, It is subject to interpretation. Paleolithic people began culture and started to settle down and lived in larger communities with a little over 20 people.
